Co-Q10 is a supplement that many people don’t know much about. Co-Q10 stands for “Coenzyme Q10,” also known as ubiquinone-10. The word “ubiquinone” loosely translated means “present everywhere,” which refers to the fact that this substance is present in various tissues of the body. Co-Q10 plays an important role in energy production in cells, and is therefore often associated with energy metabolism. Therefore, Co-Q10 is also called the “energy giver” of the body.
This is true for all body tissues, by the way, but certain tissues need more of this substance than others. This is because Co-Q10 enables cells to produce energy. Cells that need a lot of energy therefore also need a lot of this substance. Tissues that need a lot are tissues such as those of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, nervous system, muscles and immune system.
When we are young, the body makes enough Co-Q10, but it is a scientific fact that the production of this substance drops sharply as we age.
This makes it harder for the tissues that need a lot of energy to keep functioning properly, which can lead to malfunctions in those tissues.
There are 2 main forms of Co-Q10, the Ubiquinol and the Ubiquinone.
These 2 forms both have the same function for the body, but the Ubiquinone is most common as a supplement.
Some manufacturers claim that one form is better than the other for chemical reasons, but in reality the body can convert both forms to each other as needed.
What really matters is that once the substance is ingested, it actually arrives in the cells.
For this reason, we have made it liposomal, which means that we have packaged the substance in a kind of fat globule, which is transported directly to the body cells and can actually start doing its work there. This ensures that the substance gets to the right place and can do its work there.
